Meta Just Dropped Muse Wonder — Its First Frontier AI Model Takes On OpenAI and Anthropic
Meta is officially in the frontier AI race. On October 12, Meta Superintelligence Labs launched Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full — the company’s largest, most capable models yet, built for long-running agent work, coding, and legal and financial analysis. It’s a sharp break from Meta’s open-source Llama playbook: both models are closed and sold through an API.
The standard Wonder costs $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output — matching Anthropic’s top pricing — with a 1-million-token context window and features Meta calls Active Memory and Active Focus. Independent evaluator Artificial Analysis scored Wonder Full at 56 on its Intelligence Index, just behind Claude Opus 5.5 at 58 and ahead of GPT-6 Astra. The catch: the stronger Full version is reserved for Muse Code subscribers and isn’t sold through the API at all.
